MARKETABLE SKILLS FOR A LOST GENERATION
Thirty years ago, the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi tore Rwanda apart, creating a "lost generation" of youth. Remarkably, in its aftermath the nation created a neighborhood court system that processed nearly a million perpetrators with the aim of both justice and forgiveness. Rwanda’s progress is miraculous, yet the cycle of poverty threatens the safely and future of a generation of youth. Today, Rwanda Rise is helping a lost generation learn a specialized trade, such as welding, culinary arts, sewing, masonry, and hairstyling, in addition to entrepreneurship.

THE STORY OF RWANDA RISE STARTED WITH COMPASSION.
Rwanda Rise came into existence because of one man's passion and vision to rescue the orphans and widows of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Hear Louis recount the story of one little boy whose life was forever changed by the work of Emmanuel Sitaki and Rwanda Rise.

GOING PLACES
Rwanda Rise empowers students to get the education they need for a better life, including transportation!
Josiane, 22 years old, used to work as a maid for a family in Kigali. They appreciated her dedication and hard work, so they decided to support her by enrolling her in vocational training. Josiane comes from a very poor family, raised by her single mother who struggles with various illnesses.
She is excited about the opportunity to learn hairdressing at HOPE VTC, thanks to the family she worked for. They recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a profession in hairdressing and beauty while she was working as a maid. Rwand Rise has helped her to get the transportation she needs to go from home to school, a two-hour commute!
